Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman remains in an Arizona hospital after getting nailed with a line drive Wednesday. Chapman suffered fractures above his left eye and nose.
Chapman is scheduled for surgery today and will miss at least 6-8 weeks.
Reds first-year manager Bryan Price said Chapman was conscious and talking as he was carted away.
While this is some scary stuff, please don’t start with the “pitchers need to wear helmets talk” again. Last January, MLB approved a protective cap for pitchers and they were available for testing during spring training on a voluntary basis. However, no titanium hat was going to save Chapman here.
