It’s another split schedule around MLB today as we have a couple of early games happening and only seven games on the slate tonight. Some sharks don’t like the small slates, but your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru likes ’em real good. Why? Because I’m a pitching whisperer and I’ll bring you all the bang for your buck. Last night, I went 5/5 in my contests thanks to the pitching I gave you yesterday – Adam Wainwright and Danny Salazar. Tonight we’ll avoid the most expensive arms for more affordable hurlers and look to stack bats from high scoring games like COL/TEX, LAD/SF and PHI/TOR. Let’s build that bankroll and work our way towards a winter of umbrella drinks and bikini babes in Cancun.
Like most nights I’ll be rolling out three different rosters in Cash Games. I’ll be stacking Rockies, Rangers and Dodgers. This team is a mix of all three. Here’s the Dirty Turban roster for Thursday May 8.
All values are based on DraftKings pricing.
SP 1 – Ian Kennedy, $9,700: David Price is too pricey for your Guru and this lineup tonight (I will start him on another roster). Kennedy at spacious Petco against a Marlins team that doesn’t hit well on the road is the play and is averaging 18+ FPTS a game this year.
SP 2 – Josh Beckett, $9,100: As a Red Sox fan I can’t stand this fat chipmunk, but DFS play holds no grudges. Beckett has three good starts in a row and is averaging 7+ Ks a game.
C – Renee Rivera, $2,400: Punt play alert. The best thing I can say is that he’s cheap and got me 14 points in a game last week. Just make sure he’s starting and be prepared to pivot.
1B – Adrian Gonzalez, $4,800: Gonzo is on fire this season with nine homers and crushes righties. He gets Ryan Vogelsong tonight who’s going to wish he was a lefty. I also like Edwin Encarnacion and Anthony Rizzo and will roll them out on a few teams as well.
2B – Danny Valencia, $2,900: Punt play alert part deux. This could be a sneaky play as he gets Hisashi Iwakuma in just his second start and went 3/5 last night with a double and a RBI.
3B – Adrian Beltre, $4,800: Nolan Arenado and his hit streak or Beltre at home is a coin flip. Let’s roll with Beltre here and Nolan on a Rockies stack.
SS – Jimmy Rollins, $4,100: Troy Tulowitzki has finally priced himself out of my range – he’s now priced as much as pitcher. Rollins get knuckleballer R.A. Dickey who he is 7 for 23 against with one home run.
OF 1 – Yasiel Puig, $5,400: Viva la Puig! Puig looks recovered from his Miami collision with the right field wall and the Dodgers will leave Ryan Vogelsong feeling blue.
OF 2 – Drew Stubbs, $3,600: Stubbs hits high in the order and the Rockies will rocking tonight in Texas.
OF 3 – Will Venabale, $3,100: Will Venable? WTF?! Hold on and hear me out. Venable faces a pitcher fresh off the DL, hits high in the order, has power and speed and I’m really trying to talk myself into this gut play.
Make sure to check the lineups, give a look at the weather, mix up some margaritas and good luck.
