I don’t mean to just go on and on about my fake teams or how well I’ve been doing lately, but damn, your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru is on fire. The turban is smokin’! Last night I cashed in five of six contests and even the all-bargain basement team I gave you yesterday cashed in a H2H. Did you play it? Why not, don’t like money?!
There are a couple basic strategies I use when constructing a roster: 1) I call this the “Ace and Stack” approach. I grab the days best pitcher and stack players from a few teams that’ll score a lot. Check the Vegas lines. Those sharks know what they’e doing. Use them. 2) The days two best pitchers and hitters who have the best chance to homer or steal. This “Arms Race” approach is a good strategy in 50/50 plays.
Here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s team for Thursday 5/22. Good luck, cheers.
All values are based on DraftKings pricing.
SP 1 – Zack Greinke, $12,100: Going the “Ace and $tack” way tonight. Greinke is the best arm on the board, has a 10.29 K/9 rate and faces a strikeout happy Mets in a pitcher friendly park.
SP 2 – Eric Stults, $5,800: Ok, Stults has been bad this year, but I like the value and the matchup at home against a Cubs team that $truggles against lefties.
C – Tony Sanchez, $2,700: Punt play alert. I rarely pay up for catcher and while I’d love to roster Yadier Molina tonight he’s just too pricey. $anchez does have some value and has scored at least five points in eight of his last 10 games.
1B – Chris Davis, $4,700: Davis is hot right now and faces the cold Justin Masterson. An Orioles $tack is a good play tonight. Davis may not he hit three dongs like he did Tuesday, but he’ll hit one.
2B – Robinson Cano, $5,100: Cano has been a bit of a bummer this year, but he’s hitting .321 vs. righties and I like the M’s chances to pile up $ome runs tonight.
3B – Kyle Seager, $4,000: This is the first time this year that I’ve had any sort of Mariners stack. Will it pay off? I’m praying to my Jay Buhner bobblehead that it will. $eager has a .376 wOBA and a .857 OPS against righties this year.
SS – J.J. Hardy, $3,500: Tonight’s ro$ter is brought to you by the letters “O” and “M” – go Orioles and Mariners! Hardy has been picking it up lately and has 33 FPTS in his last three games.
OF 1 – Adam Jones, $4,900: It’s a toss up between Mr. Jones and Nelson Cruz at the $ame price here, but let’s give Jones a go. Over the last two weeks, Jones is hitting over .350 with five homers and 12 RBI.
OF 2 – Adam Eaton, $3,800: Eaton hits at the top of the White Sox lineup and is in a nice spot against David Phelps at Yankee Stadium. This is my $value$ play of the night.
OF 3 – Michael Saunders, $3,200: This is too cheap for a bat that hits at the top of the lineup, has some pop, some speed and is averaging 10+ FPTS over his last five games.
Good luck and remember to always check daily lineups and weather conditions.
