We have hit the quarter pole in the MLB season and we’ve grown a modest bankroll over the first two months. Now that we have about 10 weeks of data to work with, let’s see if we can make some real cash this summer. We tip out dirty turbans to those players that have been our bankroll MVPs this season: Troy Tulowitzki, Edwin Encarnacion, Yasiel Puig and Nelson Cruz. Those four players have won us a nice stack and there’s no need to bail on them now.
There’s aces on the bump tonight, big bats to stack in Toronto, New York and Milwaukee and some weather to watch in NYC, Boston and St. Louis. This particular lineup will feature value pitchers and big bats. I’ll be giving this a shot in a cash game tonight for sure.
Here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s team for Friday 5/30. Good luck, cheers.
All values are based on DraftKings pricing.
SP 1 – Marco Estrada, $8,800: Yes, Adam Wainwright is the best arm on the slate tonight and I’ll have him in another lineup, but my other favorite is E$trada. Ponch is averaging 8.4 K/9 and faces a Cubs team that is 28th against right-handed pitching.
SP 2 – A.J. Burnett, $7,000: Going with a $neaky play here as everyone will be on names like Waino, Strasberg, Teheran and Bumgarner. Will it pay off? Who knows, it’s baseball. Did anyone see Josh Collmenter throwing a three-hit, complete game shutout last night? A.J. is facing a Mets team that is 27th against righties and strikeout rate of 20.9.
C – Brian McCann, $3,900: The Yankees make for a great $tack tonight against Ricky Nolasco who has an ERA over six. McCann is 20-for-58 with 8 home runs off lil’ Ricky.
1B – Edwin Encarnacion, $5,200: Going to have to pay up at first tonight and E5 is the perfect play with 9 homers in his last 10 games. Love the Jays bat$ tonight.
2B – Danny Valencia, $3,000: Punt play with some up$ide, just make sure he’s in the lineup. Want to spend up? Look to Jose Altuve or Brian Dozier who are both in prime spots.
3B – Brett Lawrie, $3,600: Lawrie is part of our Jays $tack attack and while it’s possible he goes 0-4, there’s a better chance he goes yard against the pitcher we want to pick on tonight in Nolasco. Another cheaper play I like tonight is Mark Reynolds of the Brewers.
SS – Jean Segura, $3,900: $egura has been cold lately, but this is just too cheap to pass up for a SS hitting in the top of the order in a game that’ll be high scoring. Jose Reyes is another SS I’ll target tonight, but he’s expensive.
OF 1 – Jose Bautista, $5,300: Joey Bats is hitting .420 this year against lefties and faces a lefty tonight. Joey Bat$ is my choice for dong of the night. Wait…that sounds perverted.
OF 2 – Jacoby Ellsbury, $5,100: Love the Yankee$ left-handed bats tonight versus Nolasco. Ells has 7 hits and 6 RBI this week, hits at the top of the order, has the speed/power combo and is playing at The House Across The Street From The House That Ruth Built tonight. Brett Gardner is another pinstripe to roster.
OF 3 – A.J. Pollock, $3,900: Has no one caught onto Pollock yet? This is a $teal for a player averaging nearly 20 FPTS a game this week. Other cheaper plays include Jayson Werth, Jonny Gomes, and Tommy Medica of the Padres may be a sneaky play.
Good luck and remember to always check daily lineups and weather conditions.
