San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum tossed a no-hitter Wednesday afternoon in a 4-0 win over the San Diego Padres at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.
Lincecum walked one and struck out six, completing the no-hitter in 113 pitches, 73 for strikes.
“I’m just relieved right now. To be a part of something like that is fun,” said Lincecum. “I wasn’t really thinking about it. At the very end, it kind of caught me by surprise.”
The former Cy Young Award winner becomes the first pitcher to no-hit the same team twice in a two-year span. Lincecum also joins Addie Joss as the only players in MLB history to throw two no-hitters against the same team. Joss no-hit the White Sox in 1908 and 1910, so this hasn’t happened in over a century.
Timmy then got weird during the post-game celebration donning a US Men’s Soccer team jersey and a gladiator helmet.
