The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 7/8

Playing daily fantasy can be a bit of a grind, but when you hit big nothing feels better. However, when you get slapped upside the head with a cold streak nothing feels worse. As we hit the halfway point of the MLB season your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru has had a profitable run. Yet, when a cold streak comes a knockin’ you just have to push away and take a break. Over the last week I’ve scaled back my play with the holiday weekend and all, but I’m ready to dive back into the deep end of the DFS pool and I’m coming for your cash.

We have 15 games on the schedule with high over/unders for HOU/TEX, CHA/BOS, MIA/ARI and of course SD/COL. We’ll be looking to those games as well as keeping an eye on the Doppler in New York, Cleveland, Washington and Cincinnati.

Here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s team for Tuesday 7/8. Good luck, cheers.

All values are based on DraftKings pricing.

SP 1 – Julio Teheran, $9,900: Sure it’s Tanaka Tuesday, but that’s one pricey pitcher. Let’s $ave a little for a player who’s just as good. Since mid-May, Teheran has a 2.37 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 67 innings.

SP 2 – Chris Young, $6,500: Let’s save a little more so we can $tack some bats and grab a player that’s averaging 20+ FPTS over his last four starts against a Twins team that is near the bottom of the AL in runs, homers and OPS.

C – Caleb Joseph, $2,000: Punt play alert. Caleb could run into one. If you want to $pend up look to Jonathan Lucroy and Wilin Rosario.

1B – Paul Goldschmidt, $5,700: The easy $tack tonight is the Colorado Rockies who went cold last night. While I think they will bounce back, I also think they’ll be heavily owned. Let’s zig while the competition zags and look to another high scoring game as the D-Backs face a middling lefty making just his second start on the year. I expect a big night from Goldy and he’s your Guru’s Dong of the Night.

2B – Martin Prado, $4,000: Love those D-Back right-handers . Prado has nine hits in his last 10 games and did go yard last night. Also deserving some attention tonight is Jose Altuve and Anthony Rendon. Scooter Gennett could make a good value play.

3B – Adrian Beltre, $5,100: Beltre is the beginning of our Rangers stack. Texas is a favorite tonight in what should be a high scoring game. Beltre has three homers in his last five games and is the best 3B on the board tonight.

SS – Elvis Andrus, $4,000: Sure go ahead spend on Tulo, I won’t argue. But he’ll cost you big. Give me a little value on Elvis who has nine hits in his last five games.

OF 1 – Shin-Soo Choo, $4,800: Choo has been a bit of a disappointment this year, but I’m going all in on the Rangers tonight and he should be right in the middle of the fun with a couple of runs and a steal. Want to spend up? I’ll have another team with Giancarlo Stanton who’s in a great spot tonight.

OF 2 – Alex Rios, $4,400: The final piece of the Rangers stack. Rios is averaging 10+ FPTS over his last four games and it’ll be a shootout in Texas tonight. Similarly priced options include the guy playing across the diamond in the Astros George Springer and Corey Dickerson out in Colorado.

OF 3 – Oswaldo Arcia, $3,600: Out of all the cheap outfielders tonight I’m going with Arcia despite having Chris Young on my team as well. Call it a gut play. Nice analysis, Guru. Quiet, disembodied voice that sounds like my ex-girlfriend Brenda. Where’s Waldo is my sleeper pick of the night. Other cheapies to look towards include Marcell Ozuna, Chris Denorfia and Josh Harrison.

Make sure to check the lineups, give a look at the weather and buy me a Mojito with your winnings.
