Rory Mcllroy may have won the Claret Jug with his British Open victory Sunday, but it was Rory’s dad that cashed in big.
According to the BBC, 10 years ago Rory’s father, Gerry, and three friends bet 400 British pounds (about $170.87) that the then-15-year-old would win the Open Championship by the age of 26.

Rory, now 25, won by 2 strokes and Papa Mcllroy scored a cool $341,000.
Following the win, Rory said, “I don’t think it matters to my dad so much but the few mates he did the bet with will be very happy.”
Rory didn’t do too bad himself as he pockets $1.66 million with the victory.
