The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 7/29

I don’t mean to just go on and on about my fake teams – that’s about as interesting as your girlfriend trying to tell you about The Bachelorette finale. However, your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru has had an up and down month. A terrible cold streak turned into a heater only to just break even on the month thus far. Let’s look to wrap up July with a win as I’m sick of just throwing money away.

Want to play with the Dirty Turban crew on DraftKings tonight? Click this link. Here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s team for Tuesday 7/29. Good luck, cheers.

All values are based on DraftKings pricing.

SP 1 – James Shields, $8,400: Big Game James burned us a couple weeks ago, but the price is right for a starter with a 2.03 ERA and 28 Ks in his last four starts.

SP 2 – Trevor Bauer, $6,500: This is a roll of the dice and I can’t blame anyone that wants to pay up for Stephen Strasburg or Cole Hamels, but to fit in the big bats we want you have to find a way to save. Bauer seems a good cheap buy as he’s averaged 22 FPTS over his last four starts and has been very good at home with 48 Ks in 44 innings this season.

C – Stephen Vogt, $3,800: Vogt’s price is creeping up, but he’s still worth it. Vogt has 14 hits and six RBI over his last 10 games and a .415 wOBA against right-handed pitching.

1B – Brandon Moss, $5,100: Our A’s stack fell a little short last night so let’s double down on the team that leads the league in runs scored and RBI. 19 of Moss’ 23 homers have come against right-handed pitching this year and he’s your Guru’s Dong of the Night.

2B – Ryan Goins, $2,400: Goins had himself a night in Boston Monday with four hits, four RBI and 24 FPTS. Give us half that against the Sox struggling rookie Rubby De La Rosa and it’s a successful punt.

3B – Josh Donaldson, $5,100: Another piece of the swingin’ A’s stack attack. Dongaldson has hits in nine of his last 10 games and double digit FPTS in six of his last 10. The sharks in Vegas have the A’s as the biggest favorite on the board and scoring 5+ runs.

SS – Ramon Santiago, $2,500: Punt play alert, just make sure he’s in the lineup. Ramon does have FPTS in eight of his last 10 starts.

OF 1 – Jose Bautista, $5,700: Joey Bats has averaged 20+ FPTS over his last six games and faces a struggling Sox staff at Fenway Park where he’s hit 18 homers in 42 games .

OF 2 – Yoenis Cespedes, $5,400: The final piece of our A’s double down stack. Yoenis has 12 hits over his last nine games with three homers and 10 RBI.

OF 3 – Melky Cabrera, $4,900: The Melk Man went double dong last night with one bomb smashing through the windshield of a Sox fan’s SUV across the street from Fenway. Cabrera has been hot with 18 hits and 15 RBI over his last 10 games and the Fenway Faithful may want to just take the T.

The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 6/23

aacash2

Happy Monday, my fantasy junkies. It’s back to the grind and while your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru has been off a few days working on the tanlines, I’m ready to dive back into the deep end of the DFS pool and soak up the cash.

aacashpool

Last week proved to be a moneymaker overall and we’ll look to build that bankroll tonight.  We have 10 games on the schedule we need to watch the Doppler in Chicago, Kansas City and Colorado.

Here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s team for Monday 6/23. Good luck, cheers.

All values are based on DraftKings pricing.

SP 1 – Alex Cobb, $8,700: Ok, I know, King Felix and a couple other aces are on the bump today, but they be pricey. Cobb has 17 K’s in his last 13 innings and gets a Pittsburgh lineup that is ninth in the NL in strikeouts.

SP 2 – Matt Cain, $7,400: Cain has been terrible this season, but if he’s going to get back on track tonight is the night as he faces the Padres who are the worse hitting team in baseball.

C – Wilin Rosario, $4,200: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn has given up six homers this year and may give up that many tonight. Rosario has nine hits in his last five games including a homer, three runs and six RBI.

1B – Edwin Encarnacion, $5,200: Encarnacion has four homers in the last seven days and will make it five in eight tonight. E5 is the Guru’s Dong of the Day.

2B – Ben Zobrist, $3,500: The Rays have been bad this year, but they have hit well off right-handers. Tonight they get Edison Volquez. The Rays could make a sneaky stack.

3B – Cody Asche, $3,400: Third base is kind of thin tonight so let’s look to save a bit. Asche has been hot since coming off the DL and will face Nathan Eovaldi who has given up six home runs to lefties this season.

SS – Jhonny Peralta, $3,700: Love the Cardinal righties tonight even if it goes against my philosophy of not starting hitters their first night at Coors.Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin is allowing a .354 wOBA to right-handers this season and I expect the Cards to score big tonight.

OF 1 – Matt Holiday, $4,900: Matt Holiday + a bad pitcher ÷ Coors Field = $$$$.

OF 2 – Corey Dickerson, $4,700: Dickerson is averaging 17 FPTS over his last five games and has been batting fifth in that Rockies lineup that can drop a crooked number on any team at home.

OF 3 – Melky Cabrera, $4,200: The Melk man’s price is right tonight. He has nine hits in his last 19 at-bats and a .357 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this year.

Make sure to check the lineups, give a look at the weather and buy me a mojito with your winnings.

The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 4/24

aacash2

We have a day/night split in MLB today and while nothing caught our eye in the day games, the night games have some juicy matchups worth stacking. Look for runs to be scored in BOS/NYY, LAD/PHI and BAL/TOR. Last night we rolled out a Jays stack that rocked and we won our two H2H games by 10 points and cashed four out of five 50/50’s. It was a good night that ended with too many hard ciders. A future liver transplant is scheduled. Thanks Obamacare!

AALIVER

Here’s the Dirty Turban roster we’re rolling with tonight 4/24.

All values are based on DraftKings pricing.

SP 1 – Jordan Zimmerman, $10,200: We like Kazmir and Haren tonight, but they’re too pricey for your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru. Zimmy is the next best thing as he’ll get 5+ K’s and a win tonight.

SP – Drew Hutchinson, $6,000: This pick kind of goes against our rule of taking two of the top five starters that night, but Hutchinson is a steal here. Hutch gets the O’s tonight a team he held to four hits and no runs with five strikeouts two weeks ago.

C – Tim Federowicz, $1,800: Just punting away on catcher tonight to stack elsewhere. Last time we did this Timmy gave us seven points.

1B – Edwin Encarnacion, $4,300: Yup, we’re stacking Jays again tonight. Pushing our luck? Maybe. However, E5 and the Jays face Bud “I’m No Chuck” Norris.

2B – Dustin Pedroia, $4,600: A Red Sox stack vs. C.C. Sabathia is another play to consider. CC sucks against right-handers. Pedroia kills lefties. It’s science.

3B – Brett Lawrie, $3,600: Lawrie has two homers and six RBI in his last two games. Keep it rolling.

SS – Jose Reyes, $4,400: Give us a leadoff guy that can hit, run, steal and score in a game Vegas likes.

OF 1 – Jose Batista, $5,200: Joey Bats hasn’t hit a homer in a week. He’ll give us a bomb tonight.

OF 2 – Melky Cabrera, $5,300: Ride that Jays stack. Melky is on fire and averaging 10+ FPTS a game this season.

OF 3 – Yasiel Puig, $4,200: Nice price for Man-Bear Puig who is 5/6 with a double, a triple and two steals vs. Phils starter Kyle Kendrick.

Good luck and remember to always check daily lineups and weather conditions.

The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 4/20

aacash2

Happy Easter, our dear daily degenerates. Ready to shove some cash in your Easter basket? It’s been a good week for us on DraftKings and we looked to double up last night. However, our pitching – namely Matt “Good For Nuthin'” Garza pooped his pants and things looked lost…that is until Ryan Braun poked his second homer of the night and we cashed all five of our 50/50’s! KA-CHING! Whatever HGH/Cadbury egg concoction Braun is swilling let’s hope he keeps it up.

aaeaster

We have 16 games on the slate this Easter Sunday as we look to continue our winning ways. There are a number of quality pitching options that come at a hefty price including Stephen Strasburg. Taking a look at hitters expect folks to stack the Rockies/Phillies game, but it’ll cost you. Today we are looking for quality and quantity and that should keep us in the money.

Here’s the Dirty Turban roster we’re rolling with today 4/20 *cough cough*

All values are based on DraftKings pricing.

SP 1 – Yordana Ventura, MIN at KC, $10,000: Spending big here, but not as much $trasburg will cost you. The Royal rookie is averaging 25+ FPTS in his first two starts this year and gets a Twinkies team that is fourth in the AL in strikeouts.

SP 2 – Homer Bailey, CIN at CHC, $8,500: We’re relying on our friends over at Razzball here as they project Bailey as the fifth best start of the day. Don’t $teer us wrong.

C – Mike Napoli, BAL at BOS, $4,500: Nap isn’t a catcher anymore, but don’t tell DraftKings that. The bearded Bunyan has two homer$ in four at-bats vs. Orioles starter Jimenez.

1B – Justin Morneau, PHI at COL, $4,700: There will be a lot of Rockies/Phillies stacks today as Vega$ has the o/u at 10. Morneau had a homer last night and has a good chance for another one today.

2B – Scooter Gennent, MIL at PIT, $2,600: $cooter is our go-to punt play and why not, he’s averaging nearly six points a game in his last four.

3B – Eric Sogard, HOU at OAK, $3,100: Kinda, maybe, sorta a punt but $ogard’s hiiting .571 against Lastros started Brad “Beautiful Plumage” Peacock.

SS – Cliff Pennington, ARI at LAD, $2,900: Another spot we look to $ave and it helps that Cliff kills Josh “The Gerbil” Beckett with a .500 average.

OF 1 – Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY at TB, $4,900: Ells is facing a lefty, but his splits aren’t that much different. The chance to hit, steal, score runs and maybe send one deep against a guy names Cesar making his first start of the year is just too good to pa$$ up.

OF 2 – Melky Cabrera, TOR at CLE, $4,900: Melky is off to a hot $tart averaging nearly 9 1/2 FPTS a game and is 4/8 with a homer off Indians starter Carrasco.

OF 3 – Jonny Gomes, BAL at BOS, $3,700: Gomes is playing in the only night game and we’ll cross our fingers he’s in the lineup. No reason he shouldn’t be as Gomes has two career homers off Ubaldo. Actually, all the $ox kill Ubaldo and could make a good $tack.

Good luck and remember to always check daily lineups and weather conditions.

The Daily Degenerate Fantasy Baseball Picks 4/10

DraftKings is your humble-but-nonetheless handsome Guru’s new addiction and I have a monkey on my back that is the size of Rosie O’Donnell. No matter, we are winning cash and have more than doubled the bankroll in the last week. KA-CHING! I’m buying a new cashmere turban and a bottle of expensive scotch. Cheers.

When it comes to winning real money playing fantasy baseball in DFS leagues there are a few things to keep in mind: 1) Pitching leads the way and strikeouts are king. 2) Build stacks against the days worst pitchers. 3) Check the Vegas odds on what games are predicted to have high scores. Vegas knows what they are doing, why not use them. 4) Know the overlay. Many sites guarantee the payout and when a tournament doesn’t fill, the money is still guaranteed, but there are fewer people competing for it. 5) Know the weather, know the lineups. There are plenty of sites out there with the info. Don’t be left with a giant zero because your star got a day off or it rained frogs in Cleveland.

With all that out of the way, here is the team I’m rolling out there tonight 4/10 in fantasy baseball.

Prices are based on Draftkings values

SP 1 – Marco Estrada – $8,800: Estrada was one of my sleeper arms to start the season. He gets the Phillies tonight and their bats are $leeping.

SP 2 – Jenrry Mejia – $7,400: The Braves strikeout a lot. Mejia is a strikeout pitcher. It’s $cience.

C – Brian McCann – $4,300: McCann has yet to hit a homer. That changes tonight against the Red Sox Clay Buchholz who got pounded in his debut and looks like Cricket from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

1B – Edwin Encarnacion -$4,800: We’re going to stack against the Lastros today with some power bats. Bad teams with bad pitching in a dome leads to homer$.

2B – Aaron Hill – $4,700: Hill has a three homers and a .563 average against SF starter Ryan Vogelsong in 16 plate appearances. Look$ like money to me.

3B – Martin Prado – $3,600: It’s an infield mini-$tack of D-Backs. Prado has been batting cleanup and has 10+ fantasy points in his last four games.

SS – Marcus Semien – $3,300: Shortstop is thin tonight so go value. $emien hits at the top of the order and has 39 fantasy points in his last two games.

OF – Jose Bautista – $4,800: Joey Bats crushes lefties. Guess what he gets tonight? A lefty lo$er named Dallas Keuchel.

OF – Melky Cabrera – $4,200: Melky is averaging 15+ fantasy points in his last four games, hits leadoff and is part of our Blue Jay OF mini-$tack.

OF – Nick Swisher – $3,700: Let someone overpay for Goldschmidt – $wish is our value play value play of the day with a career OPS versus lefties of .852 and has two home runs in 16 plate appearances against John “Doink” Danks.

Value Plays: David Hale, SP, $8,700 – Gerado Parra, OF, $3,600 – Parra hits leadoff against righties and it’s hard to ignore the 31 fantasy points he last night. Ryan Rayburn , OF, $2,800 –  Raburn is a sniper against left-handers and is 11-for-32 with three home runs off Danks. Miguel Montero, C, $3,400 – The mini-Miggy could be part of a mini-stack vs. the Giants.
