(VIDEO) Bill Russell Has a Few Words For King James

Bill Russell celebrated his 80th birthday with a visit to the NBA’s All-Star game on Sunday. The former Celtic legend had a few words for one LeBron James who left the 11-time NBA champ off his “Mt. Rushmore” team last week.

“Hey thank you for leaving me off your Mt. Rushmore.  I’m glad you did.  Basketball is a team game.  It’s not for individual honors.  I won back to back state championships in high school.  Back to back NCAA champsionshps in college.  I won an NBA Championship my 1st year in the league.  An NBA championship my last year.  9 inbetween.  And that Mr. James is etched in stone.”

Hey, Bron Bron, this is what the real king of the mountain thinks of your game:

AABRON2

The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Charade Contest is Saturday night in New Orleans. The sports must exciting player, LeBron James, won’t be there.

If King James wants to be in a dunk contest, he holds his own. Here’s LeBron putting on a show at Monday’s practice in Phoenix:

(VIDEO) Who’s on the NBA Dunk Contest Roster?

I’ll admit I haven’t paid much attention to the NBA Slam Dunk Contest since the days of  Dr. J, Dominique Wilkins and Spud Webb.

The Dunk Contest and its car jumping ridiculousness is just a glaring example of all that is wrong with the NBA – overhyped and incredibly boring.

But, I digress. Hoop junkies and Stuart Scott seem to love it.

Thursday, the NBA announced this years roster for the dunk-fest:

Paul George, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Ben McLemore, Harrison Barnes, and defending dunk champion Terrence Ross.

Festivities take place February 15 in New Orleans.

The folks at Hoop MixTape have actually put together a pretty cool highlight reel featuring this years contestants.
